Time to Knit

Today I joined Jackie and Jeannie for some knitting time.  A time to get caught up with the latest.  Also a time to ask those pesky questions about knitting that we all have at some time or another.  I had one today about instructions that tell you to just 'reverse' instructions for the other side of the sweater.  I have to go through and rewrite everything so I know what to do!  Who's brain just automatically works that way?!? Not mine...

In the top photo, Jeannie is wearing  a sweater she made. It is the February Lady sweater, a free download from www.ravelry.com.  In the next photo, Jackie is correcting an error in her rendition of the February Lady sweater.  And in the following photo I am modeling my completed February Sweater.  Triplets!! NOT!
I'd like to make this again because I know what I would do differently next time.  (actually make button holes so I could use buttons, for one...).  It was fun to make.

Sewing at the SEW-IN

Thursday, Friday and Saturday I spent at the South Slope Community Center.  Thursday was Common Thread's Party With Patrick  project and Friday and Saturday was Common Threads Annual Sew-In. What a great time for sewing, seeing old friends, and meeting new ones! A big thanks to Peg and her sisters, Ann and Jean.  They worked really hard and made some great meals for us! (Especially loved the Karate Salad!)

Here's one of my "Peeps" with here finished quilt top!  Way to go, Jackie!  She was really cranking out the projects. She also finished this sweet top, after a few redesigns...
Jessica was another of my 'Peeps".  She was working on a Buggy Barn creation.  LOTS and LOTS of cutting.  But it will be fabulous when she's done.  Hope we get to see it next year!

I Taught the Party With Patrick on Thursday.  We made two sweet mug rugs for Valentine's Day. Then on Friday I completed the autumn poster quilt I am holding in the picture above. On Saturday I worked on a small quilt with a picture of a cardinal on it.

Also, it was great to see Sally visiting from Kentucky.  I so enjoy reading her blog, "Less Is More". Friend Carol joined us this year also. After a slow start with her sewing machine, she finally found her rhythm. Glad she could join us.

All in all, it was a great Sew-In!  Thanks, Peg!!

New Year Begins...

So, its a new year.  I need to work at finishing a few projects around here!  Yesterday I did this little snowman quilt.  A Patrick Lose design.  But, it really wasn't on my 'to do' list.  That seems to be my problem, I get off on a tangent and then never get back to the main event.

An example is my 'knitting' basket.  What a disaster! (See below)
YIKES!  There isn't enough time in the day.....
I have been trying to do stranded color work.  I took a class once a long time ago and never kept up with it.  Now, after I've been knitting for a few years, I want to expand my horizons.  But, so far, all I've finished is a hat.

Here, Lauren models after I felted it.  It was quite large prior to felting..
I'm not even going to show you my cutting table in my sewing room...
As my dad once said, "An old cow couldn't find her calf there." Piles of fabric, bags of fabric kits, stacks of books and patterns. Somebody stop me!!!
So, here's my hope for 2012...a tidy sewing room and a half full yarn basket.  Good luck to me!
